About Sarah

Sarah has had a distinguished academic career with Newcastle University and is a former associate professor (senior lecturer) in toxicology and pharmacology.  For over 20 years she has led scientific research and has particular expertise in neuropharmacology and neurotoxicology; designing, managing and publishing research studies as well as behavioural, neurochemical and electrophysiological assessments. She has designed and led research studies into the neurotoxicological effects and mechanisms of action of biocides, industrial chemicals and natural toxins. With substantial experience evaluating varied evidence, Sarah has provided expert opinion and decisions to government agencies, peers and publishers.

For the past five years, Sarah has been an invited lecturer in neurotoxicology on the MSc Toxicology course at Birmingham University, and has been a reviewer for many publications including Behavioural Brain Research, Neuropharmacology, Neurotoxicology and Teratology, Toxicology Letters and Neuropsychopharmacology.  She is a former member and deputy chair of the UK Committee on Toxicity of Chemicals in Food, Consumer Products and the Environment (COT), and has also been a member of the British Toxicology Society Scientific Subcommittee.
